The Legacy of Lu Ban

507 B.C. — 444 B.C.

“The Father of Chinese Carpentry”

Lu Ban (born around 507 B.C., passed away in 444 B.C.) lived from the late Chunqiu period to the early Zhanguo period. Born into a carpenter's family, he mastered carpentry skills and accumulated rich practical experience. Many tools used by carpenters today were initially invented by Lu Ban — the back square (habitually called the 'Lu Ban square'), the ink duct, umbrella, saw, wood plane, drill, and chisel. These inventions freed carpenters from primitive and burdensome work and brought carpentry into a new age. To honor this great craftsman, people call Lu Ban 'The Father of Chinese Carpentry'. Today, QSTools is dedicated to manufacturing the best carpenter tools in the world. We sincerely hope our products will facilitate your woodworking, and that our Eastern carpentry culture will spread all over the world.
